Just after adopting her fourth child, Pax Thien Jolie, from Vietnam, Angelina Jolie has revealed that she may take time off from acting to be a full-time mother to her clan, which includes two other adopted children - Maddox and Zahara - and her biological daughter - Shiloh Nouvel - with actor-partner Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie told a Vietnamese newspaper this week that she's getting ready to take an acting sabbatical to be a mother to her very large family and usher Pax Thien (which means peaceful sky in Latin) into his new life.
On Thursday, the adoption of Pax Thien Jolie by Angelina was official and Jolie told the Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper in an exclusive interview that was published Friday - "Now, I will stop making movies and will stay home to help Pax get used to his new life. I have four children and taking care of the children is the most important thing for me at the moment. I am very proud and happy to be their mother."
The newspaper also reports that Angelina Jolie hopes to learn to speak some Vietnamese so that she can communicate easier with her new three-year-old son Pax Thien, who only knows a few phrases in English. Of course, Jolie will teach Pax Thien English, but Angelina wants to learn a little Vietnamese to make the transition easier.
The world press descended on Vietnam this week, but Angelina Jolie avoided most of it and Brad Pitt wasn't even there, which can be explained by the fact that Jolie is the only parent listed on the adoption paperwork because unmarried couples can't adopt in the country. Brad Pitt is also reported to be making a movie in the States, which kept him from making the trip. Angelina Jolie granted only one interview about the adoption of Pax Thien, to the small Vietnamese-language paper that's published by the Ministry of Justice, the same organization that finalized the adoption on Thursday. Angelina Jolie told the newspaper "Photographs and press coverage will make him (Pax) upset. I’m very worried about that. I would like to say I’m sorry for bringing this into Pax’s life."
In other news about the latest member of the family of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, The Irish Examiner spoke to a woman who works at the Vietnamese orphanage about the day that the two came to meet with the children there back over Thanksgiving and even got some details about Pax Thien. "They looked very much like ordinary people. We thought that they were just an ordinary couple that wanted to play with the kids and give them presents. They brought lots of toys."
Bui Thi Bich Tuen, a nurse at the Tam Binh orphanage, also gave some details about Pax Thien Jolie, including his original name - "His Vietnamese name was Truong Quang Sang, but we just called him Sang. He is a very lively boy, but sometimes when he met strangers he would become shy and often cried. He is just a little boy, so I don’t think he understands the big change that has come into his life. He is very lucky to be adopted by a famous star."
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt aren't married, although rumors abound that they will soon, but have been together since they met on the set of Mr & Mrs. Smith. Brad Pitt has gone on to star in Best Picture nominee Babel and Angelina Jolie appeared in last year's The Good Shepherd, which hits DVD on April 3rd. The two are working together on a film about the widow of slain journalist Daniel Pearl called A Mighty Heart. Brad Pitt has become legal guardian to Maddox and Zahara and will likely be the same for Pax Thien. He is, of course, also the father of Shiloh Nouvel, Angelina Jolie's daughter.
